- Biography Charlie began playing folk, jazz, blues, bluegrass and honky-tonk in Bloomington, Indiana and took great interest in songwriting and compositon. Rambled out to the Northwest and found an affinity for the old-time music of southern appalachia and the Missouri valley, and he sought to add some of those traditional sounds to his original music.
