- Biography Batucada Yemanja was founded in 1978, and is the oldest batucada in the USA. Batucada Yemanja has played at Bumbershoot, Rhythm Fest and with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Symphony 's Soundbridge series. Batucada Yemanja performs samba batucada, samba de roda, chorinho and pagode and operates as a non-profit organization supporting children in Brazil and Zimbabwe.
